Rahul Tripathi’s 93 Run Guides Rising Pune Supergiant Won Against Kolkata Knight Riders

A brilliant show by young Rahul Tripathi helped Rising Pune Supergiant continue their winning streak as they outplayed Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets to register their third win on the trot.

Once again Pune fall early Ajinkya Rahane chased in 156-runs But Tripathi was in a zone as he took the attack to Kolkata’s impressive bowling line-up.

Tripathi brought up his fifty in just 23 deliveries and did not allow the pressure to build, even as the Kolkata bowlers kept on chipping away at the wickets.

The opener shared a 48-run second wicket stand with captain Steve Smith (9), where it was Tripathi who did all the scoring, Tripathi’s one man show is highlighted by the fact that Ben Stokes was the second highest scorer for Pune with just 14 runs.

Chris Woakes fared best among the bowlers for the hosts (3/18) taking the wickets of Pune and Australia skipper Steve Smith (9) and in-form Manoj Tiwary (8) off two excellent deliveries.

There were a few nervous moments thereafter, but Dan Christian sealed the match with a six to take Pune with four balls to spare.

Earlier, the New Zealand all-rounder Grandhomme’s 36 and Manish Pandey’s 37 saved KKR the blushes as the hosts recovered from a top-order collapse to post 155/8.

Jaydev Unadkat (2/28) and Washington Sundar (2/18) were the best bowlers for Pune.

Grandhomme (36 of 19 balls) and Pandey (37 of 19 balls) joined hands when their side were tottering at 55/4 to stitch together a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav (30 off 16 not out) struck some lusty blows at the death hitting two consecutive fours and a six to help in set the target 155/6.
